26 August 2003

Good Morning,

We were in Oxford weekend last for the Tred Avon Yacht Club's Heritage Regatta--Log Canoes, Chesapeake 20's, and Comets. Saturday emissaries for autumn stroked the race course and, no doubt, the whole of the Chesapeake. Not for TESOD this evening, though. Nevertheless we'll have wonderful summer sailing.

NOAA predicts: "TODAY W WINDS 10 KT BECOMING SW. WAVES 1 FT. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. WINDS AND WAVES HIGHER IN TSTMS.TONIGHT W WINDS 10 TO 15 KT. WAVES 2 FT. ISOLATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS." The Way Cool Wind site shows green, 5-10 knot, arrows from just north of west at 6:00.

It's blowing from 290 degrees at 10 knots at Thomas Point as I write.

The water temperature is 78 degrees. Sun sets at 7:48. High tide in Annapolis at 5:00 this afternoon.

Alas, including this evening, there are only three more TESODs this year. Last is 9 September.

Kieran of Feed-Your-Crew: 'Specials for Tuesday: "Dagwood" - Massive sandwich combo that is daring and delicious $4.29 "TESOD Sunset Cocktail" Prosecco di Conegliano with Fresh Orange Juice and a Dash of Grenadine $3.10'

Speaking of Oxford, Later at Davis' say "bucolic", the word-of-the-day at dictionary .com, and get a free beer. bucolic \byoo-KOL-ik\, adjective: 1. Relating to or typical of the countryside or its people; rustic. 2. Of or pertaining to the life and occupation of a shepherd; pastoral. Bucolic derives from Greek boukolikos, "rustic; pastoral," from boukolos, "a cowherd; a herdsman" from bous, "a cow; an ox."

First start's at 6:00. Don't be late.

Ciao,

Alden Bugly
