I used the heater in my car for a few minutes this morning and wished I had worn a light jacket. Today is a lot like yesterday. The humidity is low. The air is clear and the air temperature will only reach the low 80s. The water temperature is 72, but yesterday we had an 11 knot southerly at 6:00 p.m. and that much breeze is not likely at 6:00 p.m. today. The arrows at the way cool wind site stay green (5-10 knots) from the southeast and NOAA says
NE WINDS 5 KT BECOMING S EARLY THIS AFTERNOON AND INCREASING TO 10 KT. WAVES 1 FT. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF TSTMS THIS AFTERNOON. WINDS AND WAVES HIGHER IN TSTMS.
It's amazing how something started out small can become such a nice big thing. Well, that's exactly what's happened with the compliments thing. I guess it's contagious because last week nearly everyone cast a compliment as they passed by the race committee and I overheard one TESOD racer actually say to a competitor, "Lovely bowline you've tied there, Arthur, and good day to you," or something like that.
In keeping with this new civility, free Davis' drafts to TESOD racers overheard complimenting a competitor or the race committee and who also happen to catch Emily or Kate post race and get a ticket. I dare say next it'll be "Please, old chap, take a bit of room at this mark" and we'll be photographed with Miss Manners.
First start will be at six o'clock this evening. Please, do not be late.
